Years ago, while livin in Green Bay, WI, I enjoyed a culinary journey through the entire state! Soul food in Milwaukee, AMAZING eclectic sandwiches and cheesecakes in Appleton, toasted P B & J subs in De Pere, Perch and booyah in Greenleaf, mannnnnyyyyy kinds of cheese and a WIDE variety of great fried foods all over the state and yes, cheese curds a plenty!! A great place to visit and explore all the great festivals, fairs, food, people, culture and the thing they LOVE most, their sports! Since I can remember my Dad was always a Green Bay Packer fan, most of the reason I'm a fan too! Living there later on I had a much bigger appreciation for the team and the fans! Let's not forget the FROZEN tundra! It sure is cold there in the winter!! They don't call it that for no reason! Which leads me to my chili... I learned to cook alot of different tasty recipes while living there! One thing they love to do is tailgate(whether at Lambeau or at home) these folks know chili and cornbread! I didn't have any cornbread fixins so its just chili this time around, over the years I have modified the recipe into 3 versions, this one is the easiest and is sure to getcha all warm n fuzzy!
Ember's Tailgatin' Tundra Chili
1lb. ground beef or turkey (I used turkey of course)
1/2 cup elbow mac (if desired)
8oz can dark red kidney beans
28oz. can petite diced tomatoes
16oz. can tomato sauce
16oz can stewed tomatoes
1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
2tblsp your favorite BBQ sauce or country bob's (my favorite flavor for chili)
dash of hot sauce
I had a free sample of Bull's eye Texas bold BBQ sauce
brown beef or turkey
add chili powder and BBQ sauce
mix and marry for 2-3 min
Add all canned goods, dash o hot sauce, and stir
Simmer 5 min and add mac noodles
Simmer 7-10 minutes or until noodles are soft. Don't forget to taste for flavor!
Don't forget the fixin's! Red onion, cheese, and sour cream
ENJOY!
